The UK now drinks over 100 million cups of tea every day—but how often do we think about the people behind the leaves?
Across global tea supply chains, women workers continue to face gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH), poor pay, and unsafe conditions. At Women Working Worldwide, we’ve spent decades working to change this, including through our recent collaboration with THIRST, (the international roundtable on sustainable tea), tackling human rights abuses and GBVH in the tea sector – see our groundbreaking report – “Consent. Just consent then you can come to work”.
This #InternationalTeaDay, we reflect on the progress made—but also share our concern in the attached media release at the quiet demise of Typhoo Tea’s Fear Free Tea initiative, which had taken real steps to address these critical issues. We call on the rest of the tea industry to have the vision and values of the old Typhoo and work with us to make all tea fear free.
We stand with women tea workers around the world and call for renewed commitments to human rights, gender equity, and safe, fair supply chains.

This post really highlights how much we take for granted when we enjoy a simple cup of tea, and it's eye-opening to consider the real human cost behind the scenes. It reminds me of a research project I did on labor rights in the agricultural sector, which was so complex and heavy that it almost derailed my final year of study. I remember being so deep in the legal intricacies of international trade that I ended up needing some Law dissertation help UK just to organize my arguments and meet my deadlines without burning out. Balancing social awareness with academic rigor is such a challenge, but articles like this are so important for keeping these conversations alive. Thanks for shedding light…
As a current PhD student juggling research and a part-time role at Academic Editors, I’ve witnessed firsthand how small choices, like enjoying a simple cup of tea, can carry larger, often unseen consequences. During my college days, I struggled a lot with academic pressures and navigating the hidden complexities of sourcing reliable materials experiences that made me deeply conscious not only of my own studies but also of the challenges others face. Now, assisting students in their academic work, especially with scientific journal submission editing, I’ve developed a strong interest in helping others minimize unnecessary hurdles. Reading about the hidden costs behind our daily brew reminded me how important it is to stay informed and mindful, both in our personal…
I am drawn to fashion that tells a story through color texture and form. Seasonal outfits especially reflect cultural meaning. The Santa Claus Costume Collection continues to inspire interest through its iconic visual appeal.
This shift in focus changes the Phrazle experience in a meaningful way, turning every puzzle into a layered challenge that tests both reasoning and intuition.
Study in USA: Finding the best universities in US for MS programs, considering a lot of factors. Some of the students are recommended to Tier 3 universities due to the affordability and ease of access in the admissions process. Students should remember that studying in Tier 3 universities is not equivalent to top-tier universities, but they are providing thousands of international students with accredited degree programs with practical education for their career pathways. Making sure that the universities are SEVP-certified for visa purposes and have good OPT/CPT policies for students in their post-study opportunities is very important to do.
